This project will be modeled after the Hogeweyk from the Netherlands that DVA helped build. They use 6 room apartments to mimic a home within a larger complex. These homes will be about 25% for the total residents and be available to people with disabilities that need extra care and supervision and the rest will be regular apartments. The rest will be available for their family, friends and caregivers.
Where will this project be located?
We are planning this project in the SW Snohomish county area.
Who will be eligible to join?
This community will be open first come first served for the people with disabilities that need extra care and supervision that has a friend, family member or caregiver that wants to live in their own apartment in the same complex. Then it will be opened up to other people with disabilities that are independent and the general public.
How much will this cost?
The main idea of this complex is to make it affordable for people with disabilities that need extra care and supervision that are living off of just Social Security and hopefully a little bit of work. The apartments will be owned and the cost will be on a sliding scale depending on income. In having a variety of support people, owning the complex, and having the other people pay more is to make sure this complex is affordable for all while supporting this vulnerable population.
Special items that will be part of this complex
Inter-generational, co-operative living, workspaces, commercial grade kitchen, restaurant, entertainment area, garden areas, hydroponics, independent living, commercial spaces on the outside and the inside, net zero production of the building, solar and wind energy, work opportunities, AI monitoring system
